MUSIC ASSIGNMENTS AND GOALS
Parts assigned by the director are based on the needs of a piece of music, as well as the execution ability of the choir member(s)
Assignment is made either via email or during rehearsal. Players have the challenge of discovering how their part/voice fits into the cohesiveness of the ensemble. This learning experience takes place regardless of parts: solo, accompanying, bass, alto, piccolo.
Therefore, for instructive purposes, each choir member can gradually have the opportunity to be assigned more challenging part(s) in a piece of music.
The choir provides a friendly and supportive environment for all flutists. All want to learn the Art of ensemble playing, breathing together, intonation, understanding musical structure, phrasing, styles and listening to each other.
CODE OF CONDUCT
As the choir must focus on complex tasks, it must not be distracted by negative input from other members.
To this end, no one is permitted to sabotage the established group dynamics of support and respect. At no time, is anyone permitted to criticize, correct, instruct another or make disparaging remarks, engage in arguments with each other and/or the choir director. All questions, suggestions, and concerns, must be brought to the attention of the director, privately. At his discretion, issues may be addressed/resolved.
